District Council of Grant

The District Council of Grant is the most southern regional Council in SA.  Predominately rural with 13 townships serving a population of 8,500 covering an area of 188,493 hectares, it is bounded to the south by the southern ocean, the Victorian border to the east and the Wattle Range Council to the north. The Council encircles the city of Mount Gambier – the second largest city in this State with this council area being its economic driver.

We have many major tourist attractions and natural and built heritage, such as the world heritage listed Piccaninnie Ponds Conservation Park and wetlands along with native forests, other ponds and sinkholes, 75 kms of spectacular pristine coastline, Canunda National Park and Lake Bonney, the Glenelg River, and volcanic craters.

Mayor Richard Sage invites you to come and experience what the region has to offer and with an abundance of high quality, local fresh produce, to explore potential export opportunities.
